The challenge with consistency, however, is that it's a long game. It's hard. It's focused on the details, the process, reflection, and small wins.

It takes serious dedication to build momentum, yet very little effort to lose what has been built.

In the end.. you have to want it. But that doesn't mean you have to go it alone.

Philosophy:

Individualized care, empathy, and guidance make the backbone of my approach. My role is to listen to your story, understand your needs, beliefs, and goals, and then guide you through a plan that will help get you there.

I lean into the biopsychosocial framework of orthopedic rehabilitation, which means that I treat the individual, rather than simply an injury.

Pillars of Health:

To optimize performance, the right health framework must be in place.

The Pillars of Health is an operational framework adopted from the Institute of Functional Medicine. It is an individualized, client-centered, science-based approach that empowers clients and coaches to work together and address underlying health concerns and promote optimal wellness.

I'm an expert in the Physical Health domain of this framework, and rely on a network of experts to provide clients guidance in the other four domains of:
  • Sleep Health
  • Mental Health, & Sports Psychology
  • Nutrition
  • Community
If things are worth doing, then they're worth doing right.

When it comes to performance, there are 5 domains that need to be maximized in order to achieve optimal results. Those domains are:
  1. Physical training
  2. Mental training
  3. Nutrition
  4. Sleep & recovery
  5. Community & relationships
Small and consistent victories compound over time.

There are no "Home Run" workouts, shortcuts, or secrets. Just consistent work and conscious habit formation aimed at a specific goal.

Lack of consistency is often what gets in the way. Without consistency, momentum is lost and progress stagnates.
My expertise is in human movement, performance, and orthopedic rehabilitation. Specifically - I work with runners and provide an end-to-end solution to reach their unique goals on both team and individual levels.

I coach, consult, rehabilitate, and guide. My approach is a blend of experience and continued athletic pursuits, mixed with the latest evidenced-based orthopedic approaches.

Manual Therapy:

Manual Therapy is a great way to stay on top of the aches & pains of consistent training, and is a nice complement to a comprehensive rehab or strength program.
  • Joint Mobilizations (foot, ankle, knee, hip, low back)
  • Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (similar to "Graston" technique)
  • Kinesiology Taping (RockTape certified)
  • Deep Tissue Massage for runners
  • Percussive Therapy (massage gun)
  • Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation ("E-stim")
  • Myofascial Cupping
  • Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) Certified
  • Pin & Stretch Technique (similar to "ART")
  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
  • Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training

Other Stuff.

Rock Climbing

Find me at Brooklyn Boulders in Queensboro when I'm not running.

Coffee

I have a slight obsession with my morning brew. Doesn't need to be fancy, just needs to be correct. I have 6 different brewing methods, but mostly stick to my trusty programmable auto-drip which makes waking up before 6a just a little easier.

Favorite Places

Crested Butte, CO remains to be the coolest, most unique place I've been. An outdoor lover's paradise set in a postcard Colorado mining town. Some of the photos for this site are from there. A close second is the family lakehouse north of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

PASSIONS.

Health Promotion

I belong to a group of dedicated "do-ers," called the Academy of Prevention & Health Promotion Therapies. Our goal is to promote and create accessible population health with a focus on prevention.

User Experience

I enjoy putting together websites and creating efficient systems directed at creating a positive user experience. I created the website and systems for Team Prep USA, mentioned above.

Health Tech

What will physical therapy, fitness, healthcare in general, look like in 5, 10, 50 years from now? Telehealth, block-chain technology, biometric screening, big data, personalized medicine, and whatever comes next. Let's collaborate.

Running

Running has always been there for me when I needed it. Some of my best friendships were forged by a track or cross country season, and it's a community that I can always count on. My competitive experiences in high school (Noblesville, Indiana), and college (Indiana University) have helped shape the way I approach performance coaching.
I'm currently competing for the New York Athletic Club Winged Footers, and am combining career and passion with Nightcap Training.

What I Do.

Performance Training

NEW YORK ATHLETIC CLUB
I partner with clients at NYAC and develop plans to address their goals. Overall health, weight loss, improving strength, any and all between.

TEAM PREP USA
I work as medical staff and consult with Team Prep USA, which hosts high-altitude overnight running camps for high school distance runners in Crested Butte, Colorado. More below.

I'm a health enthusiast. I'm an orthopedic physical therapist, performance coach, and life-long student. I learn by doing and have a fixation with solving problems. I have big, broad ambitions aimed at helping others achieve.
